How a simple person uses simple tools to maintain a simple and structured site.
It stats with an idea to add something to the site. I would write the main points down on paper and come back to it a while later to expand on it. Then I forget about it until I find it again.
When I actually get to putting something on the site I would make a new HTML file and write it first go. I would preview the page in Librewolf, make corrections and then upload it to the server.
After I upload it to the server I send a link to the page to my father, who happily reads and suggests improvements to my text, but the core ideas remain mine.
When I am happy with the result, I link the page in the appropriate place in the library and once again upload the changes to the server. No fancy CMS needed.
The site is based on a very simple template I made in about a day. The CSS is intentionally kept simple to be easy to maintain, although I do not remember when was the last time I updated index.css
for this site.
I lovingly write all the things out in Nano and then after I upload the changes to the server, I manually test all the links. So far this has not failed me.
